2016 #PELstories Photo Contest

#PELstories Contest Rules

How It Works. Post your PEL story (in words and pictures) on your Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter page using the hashtag #PELstories. PEL will share your stories on its Facebook page. The first ten eligible submissions will receive PEL tote bag full of beach gear.

Eligibility. The #PELstories campaign is open to all PEL students and alumni. To be eligible to win a prize, entries must be among the first ten (10) Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter posts featuring the hashtag #PELstories.

Deadline: The contest will open on Monday, May 16th and close on Friday, May 27th. No entries will be considered eligible after 5:30pm on Friday, May 27th.

Submission Guidelines. To be considered for a prize, entries must adhere to the following guidelines:
The entry must demonstrate the contest theme of #PELstories. Judges encourage creativity in interpreting this theme.
Entrants may submit as many entries as they like, but only one prize per entrant will be awarded.
The submission must be the original work of the entrant. Submissions cannot have been submitted previously in a promotion of any kind.
All entries must adhere to the following content standards: 1) entries must not violate intellectual property rights or rights to privacy; 2) entries should not be disparaging to any person or entity, and should not promote hatred, harm, or unlawful discrimination. The contest organizers will not post any entries that do not meet these standards, and reserve the right to disqualify any entries not adhering to these standards.
Entrants should ensure that every person who appears in a photograph submitted under the #PELstories hashtag has consented to having his or her image appear on Facebook and used for the purposes of this contest. This is especially true in classroom settings (see below). Any person not wishing to appear in a photograph for any reason should be excluded from the frame of the photograph. The contest organizers reserve the right to disqualify from the contest any submission for which proper consent was not given.

Prizes. The first 10 eligible submissions will be awarded a PEL tote bag filled with beach gear. Winners will be notified by email on a rolling basis, and prizes will be held for pickup at either campus (St. Petersburg or Tampa), depending on winner’s preference. If a prize is not claimed within 10 days, it will be forfeited and awarded to another entrant.

A Note About Classroom Photography. The classroom is primarily a space for learning and entrants wishing to submit a picture of a PEL class session should observe the following rules of etiquette:
1.    Obtain the permission of the instructor before class.
2.    Tell other students that you intend to take a photograph and agree to exclude from the frame anyone who does not wish to be included in the photograph. Remember that the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy (FERPA) Act protects the right of individuals to keep certain information--including enrollment in a particular class--private.
3.    Take pictures before or after class to avoid disrupting your instructor or fellow students.
